Our Vision
We love God's world,
we care for God's world,
we are His stewards.
‘God saw all that he had made and he saw that it was very good’.Genesis 1:31
Inspired by learning in beautiful surroundings of God’s creation, we have become a school community that flourishes in learning and life. At St Mark's, we are a small, close-knit community who love and care for each other, echoing God’s love and care for us (Genesis 1). We are part of His world and Genesis tells us we are made in His image; all of us are important. Through knowing and nurturing each and every one of our school family, every voice at St Marks’ is heard and valued, allowing every individual to be the best they can be. Our children both aspire to be, and embrace the honour of being, God’s stewards throughout their broad, rich learning journey at St Mark’s, and as they go out into the world as global citizens to be God’s stewards of the future.
St Marks moved to its current site in 2002 and pupils and staff were treated to learning in an outstanding environment from day one. We are forever inspired by our setting; the wonder of God’s creation permeating our every learning experience. Through the concepts of stewardship, thankfulness and equal respect for everyone we understand the themes from Creation that guide our time in school. When developing our current vision, we couldn’t ignore how our outdoor environment shapes our learning, enables us to flourish and become the school community we are.
When we asked ourselves, “Who are we?” we answered, ‘We are learners who take responsibility for and as global citizens protect our environment so that we can flourish together'.
Key themes such as ‘stewardship’ and ‘equal respect’ are the core part of our curriculum; learning in geography, PSHE, RE and Science look explicitly at our responsibility for looking after our immediate locality and the world beyond.
Made in God's image, we place value on our own ability to 'create' and learn, sharing our progress and celebrating each other.
We are a school community learning in a beautiful landscape and constantly reflecting on God’s creation. Our vision defines everything we do.
