In Maths we have been adding 4 digit numbers, thinking about when we need to exchange.

In PSHE we are looking at the Zones of Regulation and this week we have been categorising the zones into the 4 colours they are represented by.

On Thursday we created Elf Hats and had a mini feast as the hook into our new story 'Elf Road'

WB: 14th October 2024

What a great first term!

Thank you for making me feel so welcomed into St Mark's. The children have been great and we have had lots of fun.

In Maths this week we have been doing some assessments as well as reviewing what we have learned in our place value topic.

In English we have produced some great persuasive piece of writing (we found reading them aloud helped when we used a persuasive voice!)

In Geography we rounded off our learning about Sustainability in our local environment nicely with a clean up of our wild area - the sun even came out for us. A big thank you to those grown ups who came in to help us. (See pictures below)

Our Vision Winner was Emily this week!

Have a great half term - don't forget to try and enter the BBC Story competition and compete in our TT Rockstar Tournament!

WB: 7th October 2024

We have started to look at writing persuasive writing in English and using different tools to try and persuade the reader to agree with us.

In Maths we have been rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000.

We are enjoying reading the Wild Robot as our class book - thank you so much to the children who managed to make a robot from recycled materials at home as an extra piece of homework!

We celebrated Theo and Fern's birthdays.

Our vision winner was Lexi this week!

Here is a photo of the robots:

WB: 30th September 2024

We have written and created book covers for our final versions of I'll Take You to Mrs Cole in English.

We have been ordering numbers to 10,000 in maths and thinking about the Place Value of the digits.

In our Computing lessons we have been learning how the internet works through routers and what makes up websites, as well as exploring lots of different websites!

We celebrated Noah's birthday at the beginning of the week too.

Our Vision winner was Noah this week!

WB: 23rd September 2024

A great week of writing our own versions of the story I'll Take you to Mrs Cole in English.

We have been counting in multiples of 25 in Maths and finding songs to sing to help us learn our Times Tables ready for the times Tables Test (Year 4 only).

We have also been singing and playing instruments to Abba's song 'Mamma Mia' - so please play it at home and sing along if you can.

We celebrated Hunter's birthday this week as well!

Our vision winner was Amelie.

This is the 4 times tables song we have been learning and found easiest to remember, can you find any good ones at home?

Termly Overview

Term 2
Term 1

Homework

Please try and ensure your child has read on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - these are the days we will be checking their contact books and listening to some children read.

Each Friday children will bring home their spellings homework and another piece of homework. Spelling tests will be taken on Fridays, the children will be tested on 5 random words from the spelling list they have taken home.

Please keep the spellings homework at home until Friday, or take a copy of the words to practise each day.

Children have also been given their TT Rockstars login letters with their usernames and passwords on, and will be receiving a login for Spelling shed, where they can also practise their spellings each week, as well as play other spelling games.

Each Wednesday we do our 'Big Maths, Beat That' tests.

Children are given a set of questions to answer in an allocated time and if they get all the corrections correct twice, they move on to the next level.

The children bring their tests home once they have done them, please practise timed similar questions if you have a chance, as the children should be able to recall these number facts speedily and easily.
