Week 7
A busy end to a fantatsic year!
Thank you so much for all your support this year, the children have worked really hard and I am very proud of them all.
We have had lots of fun finishing off our topics, seeing the new classes and meeting new teachers, watching the Year 6 leavers performance and we had a great time on our visit to Gillingham Mosque. The children were very respectful and both asked and answered some good questions.
Week 6
A hot, busy week this week.
We started off with our Trip to Cobtree Manor Park - the children were very well behaved and had lots of fun!
In English we have produced our own Pirate Stories and in Maths we have been finsihing off our Time unit and reminding ourselves of addition number sentences.
In Art we put all of our learning about Stick People and Worry dolls together to create an Art Exhbition of our final pieces to show Percy Class.
Week 5
We have enjoyed using our senses to describe different settings in English this week.
In Maths we have been looking at how many minutes to and past the hour (this has been very tricky!)
We have enjoyed using the glockenspiels in Music to create our own questions and answers through playing different tunes.
Thank you to those who came and enjoyed Sports Day! I only managed a few photos unfortunately, but the children had lots of fun and all did a great job at showing good sportsmanship.
Week 4
What a hot week!
In English we have been continuing to learn The Story of Pirate Tom and write Pirate themed sentences using adjectives and different punctuation.
In Maths we have started learning to tell the time - looking at o'clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past.
In Art we made worry dolls out of lolly sticks, wool and fabrics for the clothes.
We enjoyed our second drama workshop - acting out the story of Peter Pan:
We have managed to survive the heat with the help of fans, the ice machine and ice poles!
Week 3
We had fun pretending to be Pirates this week, and starting to learn our new English story- The Story of Pirate Tom.
In Maths we have finished our work on Money with looking at change and adding amounts together.
In Art we enjoyed learning about Guatemalan Worry dolls and making our own versions.
Week 2
In English the children have been writing sentences using adjectives and different punctuation.
Year 1s have now completed their Phonic Checks.
In Maths we have continued our work on Money and been using coins to make different amounts.
In Science we have finsihed our Plants unit by looking at different types of trees - which was tricky with so much rain!
Week 1
The children have all come back happy and ready to learn!
In English we have been doing some SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) lessons - looking at punctuation and different word types.
In Maths we have started learning about money and counting different coins and notes.
In Music we have started learning our new song 'Three Little Birds' by Bob Marley which lots of the children know from family members singing it, which is really lovely!

Week 5
A hot end to the term!
We have enjoyed writing persausvie letters this week - trying to persuade Mr Bassett to let us go on a school trip next term - watch this space!
In Maths we have finished our Fraction unit with counting up to one whole in fractions and looking for patterns.
We made our smoothies in DT which the children were very excited about - most of them liked their finished products!
We also had fun walking to Eccles Church - despite the rain!
Week 4
In English we have been planning and writing our own sequels to the book I Want My Hat Back.
In Maths we have been looking at unit and non-unit fractions.
In Science we have been thinking about how pollen travels between flowers and what it looks like under a microscope. We created our own pollen balls from clay.

In DT we enjoyed tasting different fruit combinations and smoothies in preparation for making our own next week!
Week 3
In English we have been writing sentences using conjunctions and writing letters.
In Maths we have been been thinking about halves, quarters and thirds.
We had lots of fun cutting and juicing different fruits in DT this week!
Week 2
In English we have been reading the story 'I Want My Hat Back' by Jon Klassen. 
In Maths we have started looking at Fractions - thinking about parts and wholes and equal and unequal groups.
In Science we enjoyed learning about how seeds can be dispersed in the wind!

Week 1
It was lovely to see everybody back this week and hear all about the Easter Break.
In English we have been asking questions about the hats the children brought in - they are a clue to our next book!
In Maths we have been finsihing our units on Multiplication and Division and Capacity.
In Science we have been looking at what plants can be used for and objects in the classroom that are made from plants.

Week 6
A fun week to end the Term on.
We have been talking about and writing the Easter Story in English this week.
In Maths we have been reviewing what we have learned so far and will continue with our multiplication and length topics next term.
In Computing we have enjoyed creating pictograms and block graphs on the laptops.
We enjoyed showing our Art books to Grimwood Class at the end of the week.
We enjoyed a visit from the Easter bunny!

In English we have been looking at The Easter Story.
In Maths, Year 2 are looking at the 2 times table and linking it to doubling and halving. Year 1 are looking at weight and mass.
In PSHE we have been talking about people in our community and the different jobs people can do to help us.

Week 4
We had lots of fun at our Drama workshop this week. The children were on an imaginary adventure in a toy shop, where all the toys were coming to life and needed to be saved!
In English we have been writing our own Lost and Found stories.
In Maths, Year 2 are starting to look at division, Year 1 have started to look at Length and Height.
In Music we have been enjoying using the glockenspiels to play our song 'Let your Spirit fly.'

Week 3
In English we have been writing sentences using adjectives, verbs and adverbs.
Im Matsh Year 1 have been paritioning numbers into 10s and 1s and Year 2 are working on adding groups of numbers using multiples.
In Science we have enjoyed double science as it is British Science Week and been looking weather, particularly the wind, and creating wind spinners, wind socks and weather vanes!
Week 2
A great week with World Book Day being lots of fun!
In English we have started looking at the story 'Lost and Found' about a penguin who needs some help.
In Maths, Year 1s are looking at numbers to 50 and Year 2s are starting looking at multiplication and division.
In Art we have been enjoying looking at primary and secondary colours and using them to create patterns using paint.

A good first week back!
We have enjoyed writing about a lost penguin in our English lessons.
In Maths we are finishing our unit on Addition and Subtraction.
We have started learning about the four seasons in science and enjoyed creating some seasonal collages.

Week 6
Have a lovely half term.
Another great term in Donaldson Class!
We have created some wolf fact files in English.
In Maths, we have been adding and subtracting in different ways.
We've been watching some of the Winter Olympics too, we were disappointed to see that Great Britain haven't won any medals yet!
We enjoyed learning about Voice Assistants with Percy Class for Internet Safety Day.
Week 5
In English we have been learning about Wolves and writing down some of the facts we have learnt.
In Maths we are looking at addition and subtraction - Year 1s finding number bonds to help us and Year 2s using dienes to exhange tens and ones.
In PE we have been enjoying Football with Mr Thacker - practising dribbling with the ball and working in partners to aim our kicks.
Week 4
In English, we have enjoyed looking at alterntaive versions of stories - such as Jack and the Beanstalk from the giant's point of View and The Three Little Pigs from the Wolf's point of view!
In Maths we have been comparing numbers and adding 10s.
In Music we have been learning to sing and play the glockenspiel to a song clled 'Friendship'.
Week 3
We have been writing our own versions of Jack and the Beanstalk in English.
In Maths we have been using numberlines and using our number bonds to help solve number sentences.
In Science we have been investigating ways to make ice melt quicker and observing what happens to ice over a period of time.
Week 2
A fun week of learning this week.
We have been using adjectives, verbs and adverbs in our English lessons.
We have been doing some addition in Maths.
In RE, we enjoyed looking at the Happy Human symbol in Humanism and recreated it!
Week 1
Happy New Year!
We were very excited to see some snow this week!
A busy start to the new term:
We have been talking about the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, looked at different versions of the story and been trying to write action sentences.
In Maths, we have continued our shape unit, looking at patterns and properties of 2D and 3D shapes.
In Computing, we have been learning about the different parts of a computer and laptop and practised using the keyboard.
Term 2
Week 8
The final week has been lots of fun.
We've been busy finishing off our Topics and doing some learning alongside making Christmas cards, watching our Christmas movie and enjoying some Christmassy games!

Week 7
What a Christmassy week!
We have been practising our Nativity and Christingle with Percy Class and enjoyed performing to the KS2 children, grown ups and Eccles Preschool.
We have also managed to finish creating our puppets in DT, write some instructions on how to make them and have started looking at 2D and 3D shapes in maths!
Thank you to everybody who came to watch our Christingle and / or our Nativity - the children did really well and were very pleased to see you there.
Week 6
In English we have started looking at what makes a good set of instructions and been suing questions marks and time adverbs.
In Maths we have been solving addition word problems and comapring numbers.
In RE we have been talking about god's world and some of the good and bad things we have noticed about it.
We enjoyed the Family Trust Christmas Show - 'The Star of Bethlehem' on Thursday!
Week 5
In English we have finished our stories about our Alien finding the North Pole!
We have been estimating on number lines in Maths.
In DT we have started making our Little Red Riding Hood Puppets - we had to do lots of cutting and stapling to join the material together!
We also had lots of fun meeting the reindeer - Dasher and Dancer on Thursday!
Week 4
In English we have been writing our own stories about an alien that crashes onto Earth, trying to add adjectives and emotions.
In Maths we have been partitioning numbers in different ways using part whole models and looking at number lines.
In PSHE we were thinking about what animals we might be like depending on our qualities - are we kind? loud? quiet? fast? slow? etc.
Week 3
In English we have been thinking about what might happen if Beegu came to visit our school and writing a mini recount of her adventures.
In Maths we have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones.
In RE we have been thinking about how people can care for the world and others who may need extra help in the form of donations to Charity - which linked nicely to supporting Diabetes UK by wearing blue today.
Week 2
In English this week we have been looking at the book Beegu, linked to the crash site.
In Maths we have been adding and subtracting using different methods, such as counting on / back, using number lines and counting on our fingers.
In PE we have been looking at a 'Chest Pass' in Netball wiyh Mr Thacker.
Week 1
I was happy to see all the children coming back to school smiling. We have had a busy week!
We have been investigating the alien space crash in our English lessons this week.
In Maths we have been looking at fact families - adding and subtracting the same 3 numbers in different ways.

In Science we have enjoyed exploring our new topic all about Everyday Materials.

A great end to the term!
In English we have been looking at different stories and completing some reading comprehensions.
In Maths we are looking at doubles and near doubles.
In PE this term we have enjoyed learning some techniques needed for Tag Rugby with Mr Thacker and Mr Rolfe.

This week we have started to learn a new story called Bob the Bubble in English, we will use it to help make up our own stories.
In Maths we have been comapring numbers using the less than, greater than or equal to symbols.
In Science we have enjoyed investigating which material is the best for soaking up a puppy puddle!

Week 2
Another fun week this week!
In English we have been looking at the Room on the Broom story and using adjectives to describe the characters.
In Maths we have been working on one more and one less than numbers.
We enjoyed collecting woodlice and creating habitats in the classroom for them (we even held them!)
In Art we created some amazing natural art work pictures, using objects we found outside to inspire us:

Week 1
What a great start to the new school year!
The children settled back into school really quickly and have been working well together and approaching the work so far with a positive attitude!
In Maths we have been looking at Place Value and representing numbers to 10.
In English we have been looking at adjectives, using the Gruffalo as inspiriation to create and describe our own monsters.
In Science this week we went on a habitat hunt to see what creatures we might find lurking around our school grounds...we found a few different things!

Class Info
Children are given a set of questions to answer in an allocated time and if they get all the corrections correct twice, they move on to the next level.
The children bring their tests home once they have done them, please practise timed similar questions if you have a chance, as the children should be able to recall these number facts speedily and easily.
