Life in all its fullness

27/04/2020

I hope you are all ok and keeping safe, well and happy!  Here is some more learning to keep you busy this week.

SPELLINGS

These spellings relate to crossword three on Week 1 of the class learning page.  Could you create your own crossword or word search using the spellings?  Try putting the words in alphabetical order and writing a definition of them (what they mean) just like you would find in a dictionary.

1.  promise

2. woman

3. strange

4. purpose

5. strength

6. extreme

7. knowledge

8. material

9. consider

10. peculiar

Here is a grammar exercise for you to try too.  Jot down the answers or tell them to an adult and then check them with the answers!

READING

This week I have given you three activities to choose from instead of one long comprehension.  Hopefully this will be a nice change :)

WRITING

This week for your writing task I would like you to write a diary.  You can either think about the things you have done to keep yourself busy, what you have eaten, who you might have spoken to on the phone, or if you are feeling imaginative, you could write a diary about a week with a celebrity, a week as a superhero or a week going on an adventure.  It is up to!  Remember it needs to be written in the past tense and in the first person (I went, I ate, I spoke etc).  Try to use our WOTW too!

MATHS

For maths, I would like you to practise your multiplication and division skills.  Have a look at my 'Top Tip Sheets' and you should recognise all the methods I have used!

Try these questions and then give the problems a try.  You don't have to print the problems, just write down the answers (and I've included the answers so you can mark your own!)

67 x 3 =                      82 x 4 =

54 x 5 =                      72 x 8 =

84 divided by 4 =

42 divided by 3 =

96 divided by 8 =

75 divided by 5 =

Remember to keep using TT Rockstars and Numbots (they are the same password).  Could you create a poster to show and explain your favourite methods?

SOMETHING ELSE

This week I would like you to do some geography and think about the continents and countries of the world.

Can you draw and label a map with the 7 continents?   Why not label some of the countries you have visited or would love to visit?  You could even try creating a 3D globe.

I’ve put a template up that can be printed and used but doesn't have to be!  You could create something amazing with things around the house.  Maybe a globe from a balloon with papier-mâché or a map using blue and green items from around the house placed on the floor.

Use this link to watch a video about globes and maps before you start.
