Life in all its fullness

I hope you all had a lovely half term and enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather!  Here is some learning for you to try this week.

These spellings can be found in crossword 7 on the main class learning page.  You could try writing a short story using every single word!

1. fruit

2. notice

3. occasion

4. question

5. quarter

6. natural

7. difficult

8. separate

9. regular

10. describe

This week I would like you to start thinking about fractions.  When we split something in to equal parts, each part is a fraction of the whole.  For example, if we slice a cake in to four parts, each slice is one quarter (1/4).  Try colouring in the fractions on the worksheet or create fraction pictures of your own.  Remember each part of the whole needs to be equal!

This weekend NASA launched a rocket in to space.  Use the link to watch the video if you missed it!  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-52855029  Try writing a diary entry of an astronaut in space or a description of the rocket being blasted in to space.  You could write an astronaut adventure story.  What will happen?  Will you discover a new planet?  Will you come across any aliens?

This week you could do some D&T and design your own rocket.  Try building it from recycled materials or lego.  Think about the pneumatic systems we used to design our moving robots.  Could you find something at home to help your rocket move?  Squeeze air out of an empty bottle, deflate a balloon or use a bicycle pump.  Remember to send pictures of anything you do to the office!  office@st-marks-aylesford.kent.sch.uk
